Episode sixteen Bat Boy / Rupert

This week: Bat Boy. We enjoy Laurence O’Keefe‘s score and the quirky tone but don’t quite know how to take the creepy stuff in Act 2. (Jelly makes demands about a new ending. Yet again.) Tyson finds the MTC production of Rupert is rather lacking, despite some fine performances. Two of Jelly’s passions converge in a discussion of Maltby and Shire’s Take Flight, a musical about aviation.

Additional Notes
HOLD ME BAT BOY!
Arlie McCormick, who Tyson thought was terrific in Underground Productions’ Bat Boy.
There’s some cool videos of McCarter Theatre’s Take Flight production on YouTube.
Tyson’s proposed Phil Spector show would have awesome wigs.
